The oral tradition of the Alentejo region is inseparable from Cante Alentejano, just as the history of Cante Alentejano is inseparable from the journey of the Choral and Ethnographic Group of Casa do Povo de Serpa.

Founded in 1928, with the name Rancho Coral de Serpa, the course of this choral group is marked by its uninterrupted activity, despite the various political and social difficulties experienced, and high concern for the preservation and appreciation of the cultural heritage transmitted by different generations that preceded us. This is the script that makes us look back with pride and offers us an optimistic vision of the future.

The road is already long, and many hours were spent sharing our art in streets, cultural and leisure spaces, stages and altars with those who were willing to attend our ethnographic and musical proposal.
