The experience of the 3rd Futurama Festival remains alive in our memory

"In the same way that agriculture shapes and nourishes the land, artistic creation transforms and enriches the cultural fabric of Baixo Alentejo, bringing with each season a new cycle of cultivation and renewal", these were the words used by artistic director of Futurama, John Romão, to introduce the 3rd edition of the festival.
And this was exactly what happened, once again, in the fertile grounds of Serpa, Mértola and Beja, where the local audiences welcomed, over the past three weekends, national and international artists. Thank you, on behalf of the Futurama Festival, to everyone who accepted the invitation and generously shared their time, their knowledge and their art.

As we wrap up the whole experience, John Romão looks back to evaluate: "the 3rd edition of the Futurama Festival was resplendent, celebrating the continued cultivation, over the course of a year, of an artistic terrain between Beja, Serpa and Mértola, led by artists, communities and agents diverse cultural events that we convened that involved artistic communities from Baixo Alentejo, students from local secondary and professional schools, gypsy and migrant communities, as well as the public from each municipality, who were asked to not only watch, but also participate.

We are committed to continuing to build a safe and integrated space for the development of contemporary artistic practices in Bahia, through a profound dialogue with the local human and cultural heritage, which involves, raises awareness and empowers communities. Futurama is a mediator of knowledge and artistic experiences. Experiences that are born and debut in this region. Experiences that are presented first-hand, some still raw, that reveal themselves for the first time under the complicit gaze of the local population and curious visitors. Experiments that test collaborative and participatory models. The Futurama Festival celebrates the creative laboratory that we develop in Baixo Alentejo, throughout each year."
