VISUAL ARTS EXHIBITION “Table with Nature, Nature Served”

“Table with Nature, Nature Served” presents a set of works developed through a collaborative practice led by Horácio Frutuoso, in partnership with participants from Cerci Beja. The project began with the creation of a still life composed of elements collected from the institution’s garden — such as oranges, flowers, stones, and pinecones — arranged on a table that was continuously transformed throughout the week of the residency and creative process.

From this shared reference, each participant developed their own interpretation, exploring different framings and points of view. The resulting body of work forms an articulated visual device, where each canvas, while autonomous, contributes to a broader composition.

Like a puzzle or a tableau, these paintings reassemble the original table into a plural image, where the diversity of perspectives reveals not only the observed object, but also the singularity of each gesture and each way of seeing.
