Art Installation “ALVITO / ALTIVO”

“ALVITO / ALTIVO” draws on a play on language and identity to create an installation that reflects on territory, matter, and transformation. Developed as part of Fiumani’s artist residency with students from the Alvito Vocational School, the work stems from the collection and reuse of materials sourced from AMCAL, establishing a sustainable cycle that links production, waste, and creation.

Through a collaborative process, participants were invited to observe, collect, and reinterpret the available materials, transforming them into elements of artistic expression. The artistic gesture thus emerges as the continuation of a cycle, where what is discarded takes on a new form, meaning, and presence.

The title—an anagram combining “Alvito” and “Altivo”—proposes a symbolic reconfiguration of the place, affirming it as a space for creation, ecological awareness, and collective pride. The installation embodies this tension between local identity and projection, between what exists and what may become, inviting the public to view the territory as a living organism, in constant reinvention.
