World Music Day at São Luiz Theatre with Cantexto
"I have never seen anyone from Alentejo singing alone." The quote, by poet José Gomes Ferreira, was confirmed once more, in a very special way, at the São Luiz theatre in Lisbon. Celebrating World Music Day, and a decade after the "cante" from Alentejo became Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, when eight choral groups took to the stage to sing as many poems by contemporary Portuguese authors. A project by Futurama - Cultural and Artistic Ecosystem from Baixo Alentejo, Cantexto updates traditional repertoires.
The show at the São Luiz Municipal Theater was attended by Ana Paula Amendoeira (Vice-President of CCDR Alentejo and Culture Coordinator) and Laurentina Pereira (Culture Director of the Lisbon City Council), with artistic direction by John Romão and the following alignment:
