Cantexto 2024

The Futurama 2024 Festival, from 27 September to 11 October, will see the debut of another edition of the Cantexto project, which consists of commissioning new poems from Portuguese-speaking writers for singing groups from the Baixo Alentejo.

In 2024, writers Rui Cardoso Martins, Alice Neto Sousa, Afonso Reis Cabral, Maria do Rosário Pedreira, Margarida Vale de Gato and Luísa Costa Gomes wrote for Alentejo singing groups from Beja, Serpa and Alvito: Cantadores de Nossa Senhora das Neves, Rouxinóis do Alentejo, Os Arraianos, Papoilas do Enxoé, Grupo Coral Rama Verde and Moças da Aldeia. With musical compositions by Celina da Piedade and Ana Santos.

The concert, with the presence of the groups and some of the writers, is scheduled to premiere in Serpa on 27 September at Largo de Santa Maria, followed by a second performance in Beja on 11 October at the Pax Julia Theatre.
