Would you like to be part of an innovative project rooted in tradition, dedicated to preserving and promoting Cante Alentejano through a contemporary approach?

The Futurama Cante Alentejano Group is open to people of all genders and aims to travel throughout the Alentejo region and around the world, introducing Cante to new audiences and generations.

A distinctive feature of the group is that it exclusively performs contemporary songs commissioned as part of Cantexto. With its own costumes and a unique artistic identity, the group establishes itself as a space for experimentation, where the tradition of Cante enters into dialogue with contemporary creation.

Participation is free of charge. Rehearsals take place once a week and are led by Celina da Piedade and Paulo Ribeiro.

REHEARSALS

Time: Wednesdays, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Location: Futurama – Space for Arts and Knowledge (Largo da Conceição, No. 5, Beja), opposite the Rainha D. Leonor Museum
Starting date: April 2026

Travel support: Futurama contributes towards the travel expenses of participants who wish to join the Cante group and need to drive to the rehearsal venue.

Would you like to join this new Cante group?

Whether or not you have previous experience with Cante, the group will give you the opportunity to discover or further develop your practice, guided by two leading figures on the Alentejo music scene: Celina da Piedade and Paulo Ribeiro.

Send an email to info@futurama-alentejo.com with your full name, date of birth, telephone number and place of residence. Please also mention whether this will be your first experience of Cante Alentejano or whether you have sung, or currently sing, Cante Alentejano.
