Biography

Lucía Casani and Mónica Carroquino are the director and deputy director of La Casa Encendida, a contemporary social and cultural space in Madrid (Spain), focused on contemporary artistic expressions, as well as educational, environmental and debate activities that revolve around the four major spheres of action of the center: Art and Culture, Solidarity, Environment and Education.

La Casa Encendida presents an extensive program that includes exhibitions of contemporary art, performing arts, film, music, expanded literature, workshops and seminars, which aims to connect a wide audience with the most experimental artistic and social expressions of our present.

To drive this innovative, diversified and transversal activity, always with a local-global approach, they support emerging artists and a wide range of collaborators through a complete program of open-calls, they pursue new genres and formats in the continuous search for new forms of access. to contemporary culture, and present the work of national and international artists, always keeping a particular focus on the multidisciplinary nature of the projects and on their effort to critically engage with our present.
