Grupo Coral da Mina de São Domingos and Grupo Coral Os Caldeireiros de São João

The Mina de São Domingos Choral Group and the Os Caldeireiros de São João Choral Choir took part in the first two editions of the Cantexto project, which consists of commissioning new poems from Portuguese-speaking authors for cante alentejano groups in the Baixo Alentejo.

Now, at the Cineteatro da Mina de São Domingos, with poems written by Afonso Cruz and José Luís Peixoto, two of the region's most emblematic choral groups are reviving these new ‘modas’ of Alentejo singing. They perform in the first part of the unprecedented concert by the Portuguese Tânia Carvalho and the Spanish Rocío Guzman, who have been in artistic residence at the Mina de São Domingos and who are now showing the results of their musical research that combines the Alentejo songbook with Andalusian sounds.
