Futurama is a meeting and crossing point between artistic territories, the cultural and natural heritage and the different audiences and generations that structure the cultural identity of Baixo Alentejo. The 2nd edition of the Futurama Festival once again covers geographies within and between towns and cities in Baixo Alentejo.
In 2023, Mértola (June 3-4), Castro Verde (June 9-10) and Beja (June 16-17) are the stage for artistic experimentation and dialogues between music, visual arts, performance and workshops, with an exciting range of national and international artists.
The Futurama 2023 Festival showcases projects that have been developed throughout the year, between artists and local communities, between artists and young students from secondary and higher schools, between writers, composers and Cante Alentejano groups, inviting communities to give themselves even more to see and hear, sharpening curiosity and knowledge of other forms of artistic making based on disciplinary intersections. Over three weekends, Mértola, Castro Verde and Beja celebrate experimentation and dialogue in each and between each municipality to build new memories, those of the future.
