In January, Filipa Francisco asked students from Serpa and Beja "What is that of the contemporary?". What is it that is born and vibrates between art and life? What is it that such an intimate and subjective work is capable of moving and awakening collectively?
Now, the choreographer and performer is travelling back to Serpa for an artistic residency with students from the Secondary School, experimenting with various scores of her pieces and proposing reflections on freedom and democracy. Is dance a revolution?
The process will culminate in a public sharing during the Futurama Festival.
Filipa Francisco believes that dance can be an engine for change and has therefore developed various projects in relation to different communities, always attentive to human rights and the individuality of each person or group. With a background in dance, theatre, improvisation and dramaturgy, she has collaborated with choreographers and directors such as Francisco Camacho, Vera Mantero and Silvia Real, among others. As a creator or co-creator, she has presented several shows that have toured Portuguese and foreign festivals, such as "Nu Meio", "Leitura de Listas" (with André Lepecki), "Dueto" (with Idola Zabaleta) and "Para onde vamos?" (with António Pedro). She is artistic director of the Mundo em Reboliço association and is a member of the Periferias Centrais group.
